In August 2008, the Zuiderzee Museum served as the backdrop for a multifaceted theater project by director Dick Hauser and Buro Saai. For four weekends, visitors encountered surprising theatrical scenes at various locations throughout the museum park. At first glance, everything seems normal in the museum park, with its historic houses surrounded by the former Zuiderzee. However, the performance ‘Er Was Eens Een Dorp’ surprises visitors with striking characters and remarkable events. The company presents a performance in the museum park consisting of fifteen short and longer scenes, which can be seen both simultaneously and in succession. Everything is as it was, yet nothing is what it seems. Visit the cottage of an elderly couple and listen to their striking memories, stop by the baker who bakes his bread in an explosive dance, or step into the school where a unique teacher reads out her dictation.
