Every July 1st, Het Markttheater commemorates Keti Koti in the middle of the Dappermarkt. We serve the Free Heri Heri for All meal, host various Surinamese stalls, and present the performance Makandra.Huntu.Samen. What heroic deeds did our ancestors perform? Is it possible to tell their story? What strength do we draw from the stories of our ancestors? And what does the freedom our ancestors fought for mean in this day and age? In the musical performance Makandra.Huntu.Samen., the actors of Het Markttheater go in search of answers to these questions.
